Saving people, hunting things... the family business

This is my hunter look v2. It's better because I took the pics outside in daylight.
I like to think of this look as my own supernatural character, not anyone in particular, though I did draw a few inspo's from Dean. (the top half)
Anyway I had a lot of fun with it. I totally take back what I said in my Marie Antoinette video about my neighbors: they don't think I'm insane - now, they KNOW I'm insane. Seriously. It's cool -shrug-

Idk it's supposed to be like demon blood or something
Or I got turned
Or I'm just morbid and like playing with the blood of things i kill

Mystique Cosplay: face paint test #1

Okay so yesterday I did the test run of just the blue paint to see how well it went on my face, how many layers I needed, different ways to apply it, etc. I was GOING to test out the scales but I searched the depths of the galaxy (every nook and cranny in our house) for the liquid latex and alas, it decided to remain lost. Well, whatever. I hope it enjoys its solitude... slowly decaying day by day, never actually being used by anyone. (I have to buy a new one)

So I'd say it went just okay. It was a learning experience (lol).
Ideally, I would have liked to apply the makeup with a sponge, but I didn't have one lying around, so I started out using my fingers. This may have been the problem. It was working but drying very fast and looking smudgy. So I switched over to a brush but by then the first layer was already dried and so it started to look thicker in some areas and I had to keep going over it and it was kind of a mess.

I started out a bit intimidated so I didn't go all the way to the scalp line, which ended up just looking like I was wearing a weird mask, so later I touched it up and added some in as close to my hairline as I could.
Surprisingly I felt unusually comfortable in blue skin....

Hairline touch up and neck...

Different lighting/camera...

I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up switching paint brands. Not only is it difficult to apply, I think it looks too bold. I would like a less-vibrant blue if possible. Not darker, just slightly decreased saturation. lol.

So, things I still need to purchase:
•The outfit >_<
•Mehron blue face paint
•Mehron liquid latex
•Mehron glitter spray face paint(?) (for highlighting/contouring)
•Yellow contacts
•Red wig (lace front) OR temporary color red hair spray (would prefer not to)
•Makeup sponges
•Flight gloves

Oh boy! Stressful but exciting.
That's it for now. I'll be sure to update more soon. :)

finally worked out my costume for Comic Con!

After much contemplation, I’ve decided on Mystique from X-men First class (ver. Jennifer Lawrence) in flight suit.

Yeah I know what you’re thinking; holy shit!! You’re actually gonna be blue?! Hell yeah I am!

I’ll be commissioning the same seller as my Amber Sucker Punch cosplay to make me the suit. I’ll probably hunt down the gloves around some stores here though.

I already bought the blue face paint I’ll be needing for my face, ears and neck. (after walking around the art store with a blue hand fuckyea) and I also bought “Pout Paint" by Sleek which is apparently the best paint for lips and stays on for HOURS even if you eat (which I might not be doing come con day ;D just kidding, kinda)

I’m going to test out my makeup either today or tomorrow. I’ll be using liquid latex to make the scales and then painting over it with the blue and adding some shading here and there. Also doing the test run helps with what I need to modify/add.

Liquid latex takes 30 minutes to dry, so I’ll have to do it like right when I wake up in the hotel we’ll be staying at, then eat breakfast and everything, put in my contacts and THEN do my makeup. Oof :/

Bring on the stress!

What else to do on a rainy day?

Yesterday was pouring thundershowers all day, so me and my bff Katherine decided to catch up over Starbucks.
I'm going to be doing a shoot of her soon (before she goes to Paris - lucky bum), so I was flipping through mags for some inspo while we chatted. fun stuff.

I also got my extensions yesterday. They look pretty good color and texture-wise, but I'll probably need to purchase another set to add thickness (not that my scalp can take much more weight, ugh).
Anyway, shameless selfies.

Bring it On tribute

One of my favorite movies during my dynamic preadolescent years was Bring it On (2000). I had the biggest crush on Cliff Pantone and always thought he'd be the perfect guy for me. I watched it again today and, though I had/have seen it many many times, felt really nostalgic. Mainly because it reminded me of my youth and how I lived at the time and all the friends I had and just generally how happening my life seemed.
I often glorify my youth, youth in general, and I know that's not the best thing to do, but I can't help it. And I also can't help but think, to quote Marguerite Duras, "Very early in my life it was too late."
Anyway, I know I have to stop thinking this way.
For the record, I'm still on the hunt for my Cliff ;)

I also made a treasury. :)
